Tell Us What You Think

It often looks like Greek, but it's Latin. You might know that if you could read it, but many prescriptions are written so quickly that they are difficult for anyone to read.

So ask your doctor, before you leave, to explain what is written there. Your health or even your life may depend on it.

Here are some abbreviations and their meanings to help you understand some of the most basic words:

ac before meals
bid twice a day
c with
hs at bedtime
pc after eating
po by mouth
prn as needed
qh every hour
q2h every two hours
qid four times a day
s without
stat immediately
tid three times a day

If you have questions about your prescriptions, ask your doctor to explain. At Allergy & Asthma Center, we consider answering your questions a very important part of what we do.
