Asthma
Sufferers: What’s Your Score? |
With
perhaps half of the 20 million Americans who have chronic asthma
not getting the best treatment to control their condition, the
American Lung Association is trying to make it easier to do a self-checkup.
They’ve put together a five-question test to assess your
symptoms and medications.
It is being promoted by Pittsburgh Steelers running back Jerome Bettis, who has battled asthma for 20 years even as he became the NFL’s fifth-all-time-leading rusher.
The test is also sponsored by GlaxoSmithKline. In controlled clinical tests on nearly 500 patients, the test correctly classified a patient’s level of asthma control in 76 percent of the cases.
