Questions to Ask your Allergist

You know how it is when you leave the doctor’s office and then realize that there was a question... or two, that you forgot to ask?

It happens to all of us, but it happens less if we take a prepared list of questions, with the most important ones first.

You might want to ask your allergist some of these:

  • What tests will you do you diagnose my allergy or asthma problem?

  • How can I learn more about my diagnosis?

  • What are my treatment options?

  • What can I do on my own to improve my condition?

  • Are there any supplements or over-the-counter drugs I should or shouldn’t take?

  • What are the possible side effects?

  • How much do I take and for how long?

  • If my symptoms worsen, what should I do? Your office? ER?

  • What steps can I take to allergy-proof my home?

  • How often should I come in for follow-up appointments?

Of course, each person’s list will be a little different, but the above will get you started and you can adjust it to fit your own personal needs.
