Dust Mite or Bedbug?

Dust mites are not bedbugs. Dust mites are a smaller problem.  For starters, you need to deal with them by enclosing your pillows and mattress in a dust-free cover and by washing bedding regularly on hot, then drying it on hot.

Bedbugs are a big, big problem. Bedbugs will infest not just your mattress and pillow, but will also get in your clothes, walls, picture frames, dresser and other furniture.  They will bite you day or night and suck your blood.  The symptoms of a bedbug bite can include an itchy welt and localized swelling.  Fortunately, bedbugs generally do not spread diseases.  If your bed is already infested, it’s best to hire a professional pest control firm, because it can be tough to get rid of the bugs without pesticides.

Dust mites are microscopic, spider-like creatures found in homes.  They are found primarily in carpets, mattresses and upholstered furniture and thrive in humid and warm conditions.  They feed on shed scales from your skin, about 50 million every day, as they flake off your body.  These waste products continue to cause allergic symptoms even after the mite that produced them has died.  The waste products produced by these mites are also highly able to cause allergic reactions.

You can’t see dust mites because they’re so small, but, left long enough, you will definitely start to notice their presence.  And lots of people are allergic to them, with 20 percent of the population suffering from their existence.  You can reduce their existance without outside help.
